BENEFITS PROGRAMS

Actelion provides a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees:

Health and Welfare Benefits
All regular U.S. employees working 24 hours or more per week are eligible for health coverage. Your spouse or domestic partner and your dependent children up to age 19 (or up to age 24 for full-time students) are eligible dependents under Actelion US' benefit plans. Coverage begins on the first of the month following date of hire or coinciding with your date of hire if date of hire is first of month.

Medical, Dental, and Vision Plans
Actelion US offers comprehensive medical and dental coverage as well as a vision reimbursement program.

Flexible Benefit Accounts
Actelion US offers health and dependent care reimbursement programs that allow employees to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for qualified health and dependent care expenses. The health care account allows you to set aside up to $10,000 each year to pay for eligible health care expenses incurred by you and your eligible dependents. The dependent care account allows you to set aside up to $5,000 each year to pay for eligible child or elder day care expenses.

Life Insurance
Actelion US provides basic life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance equal to two times your annual salary up to a maximum coverage of $300,000. Supplemental life insurance is available for you, your spouse, and your dependent children.

Disability Plans
Actelion US provides short-term and long-term disability plans. Income protection is provided to you if you are certified to be disabled and unable to work.

Retirement Benefit
401(k) Plan

You may defer up to 100% of your eligible compensation up to the IRS annual maximum. Actelion US offers both the traditional pre-tax 401(k) option and the post-tax Roth 401(k) option. Actelion US will match your contributions dollar-for-dollar up to a maximum of two percent of your eligible compensation. In addition, Actelion US will contribute three percent of your eligible compensation for all employees, regardless of whether or not you actively participate in the 401(k) plan.

Vacation
Regular full-time employees accrue vacation as follows (part-time employees accrue vacation on a pro-rated basis). Additionally, employees are eligible to accrue two floating holidays per calendar year (new hires accrue floating holidays on a pro-rated basis).

VACATION POLICY BASED ON SERVICE LEVEL

Up to 5 years - 15 days


More than 5 years - 20 days

Sick Leave
Regular full-time employees receive 10 paid sick days per calendar year. Sick days for part-time employees and new hires are pro-rated.

Sabbatical
Employees are eligible for four weeks paid sabbatical after ten years of continuous service. Sabbatical leave is pro-rated for part-time employees.

YOUR ADDITIONAL BENEFITS AND SERVICES

Charitable Giving Match:  Actelion will match your charitable contribution, up to $750 per year, to charitable organizations focused on health, education, or human services.

Education Assistance Program:  The Company will reimburse 100% up to a maximum of $10,000 annually, to cover the cost for courses, materials, or degree certification related to current job responsibilities or future job with Actelion.

Employee Assistance Program:  Confidential assessment and referral services are offered through this extensive national network of legal experts, licensed psychologists, social workers, and mental health/family therapists for a wide array of issues. 

Health and Wellness: Actelion provides a $400 annual wellness allowance, as well as an on-site fitness center.  Our annual Health Fair provides health assessment and screenings, flu shots, and various opportunities for health education.

Subsidized Bistro by the Bay: A gourmet café and deli on-site, providing you with hot entrées and more.  Additionally, Actelion also provides free snacks and beverages, and Monday morning bagels.  These are sure to please every appetite!
